Essay on Mango: Mango is the national fruit of India and is also called the king of fruits. This fruit is full of juice, and it is fruit on trees. It is mainly produced between March and October. India has the highest place in the production of mango.

The mango is a juicy fruit, which is grown in hot regions. It has smooth, yellow, or red skin. It has soft orange pulp and a large seed inside. It is one of the most popularly cultivated fruits in the world.

Initially, it originated in India and Burma. It is the national fruit of India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. The mango tree is the national tree of Bangladesh. In several cultures, the fruit and leaves of the mango trees are used in religious ceremonies. People use them for decorations at weddings and public celebrations.

Mango trees grow up to 115 to 131 feet in height. Some mango trees live for 300 years. The leaves on the tree are evergreen. They are about 15 to 35 centimeters long and 6 to 16 centimeters broad. When the leaves are young, they are orange-pink in color. They quickly change their color to a dark and shiny red. Later as they grow, they turn into dark green.

Each flower on a mango tree is small and white in color. It has a sweet smell. There are over 400 varieties of mango. Some of the widely grown types of mangos are Alphonso, Amrapali, Zill, Himsagar, Young, Sindhri, Neelam, Mulgoba, Langra, Palmer, Mallika, Totapuri, etc. Most of these varieties ripen in summer. The ripe fruit varies in size and color. The fruit takes three to six months to ripen.

Mangos have been cultivated for thousands of years. Mango cultivation reached East Asia by the 5th century. By the 10th century, it was started in East Africa. Almost half of the world’s mangos are cultivated in India alone. China stands second. Mangos are also grown in Spain, as it has a coastal hot climate. Other places where mangos are grown include North, South, and Central America, South, West and Central Africa, Australia, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Asia.

Mangos are widely used in different forms of food. Sour and unripe mangos are used in chutneys, pickles, and side dishes. Many people love to eat raw mangos with salt and chili powder. Mango lassi is popular in South Asia. Ripe mangos are also used to make curries. The pulp from ripe mangos is also used to make jams.

Skins and seeds of dried mangos are used in Ayurvedic medicines. Mango leaves are used to decorate archways and doors in Indian houses. They are also used during weddings and celebrations like Ganesh Chaturthi. In Tamil Nadu, the mango is referred to as one of the three royal fruits along with banana and jackfruit.

Essay On My Favourite Fruit Mango

We very well know and understand the importance of fruit: In India different types of fruits like grapes, banana, guava, pomegranate, etc. are available. Some are seasonal and some are available all around the year. Fruits supplement us with all the necessary nutrients. I like all types of fruits. But my favorite fruit is mango. In a real sense, it is the king of all the fruits.

Indian mangoes are famous worldwide for their taste, color, and flavor. India ranks first in the production of mangoes. India produces around 64 % of the total production of mangoes. There are hundreds of varieties of mangoes available in India. Dasara, Langada, Aamrapali, Neelam, Totapuri are to name a few. However, Alphanso is the most favorite and most famous variety.

Mangoes are also produced in countries like Mexico, Venezuela, Malaysia, Jamaica, Bali, etc. the varieties produced in these countries are Torma, Ethical, Kent, Water, Lili, etc. Mangoes are of various shapes, sizes, and colors. The shape of the Kent variety is like pomegranate. Their color varies from green to yellow, red, or saffron.

Major mango-producing states of India are Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Assam. There is a great demand for mangoes in Europe and Arab countries. We get a huge amount of foreign exchange by exporting mangoes.

Mango is a seasonal fruit. It is available only in the summer season. So, I look forward to this season. I ask my father to buy mangoes the moment they are available in the market. Mangoes give a cooling effect to the body during the hot summer. Mangoes are eaten raw as well, though raw mangoes are juicy and sour to taste. Mangoes have medicinal value too. Its skin, flowers, leaves are used to make medicines. It prevents disorders like cough, diarrhea, vomiting, and rheumatism.

Apart from eating them raw or in sliced form, we also prepare a number of delicacies with mangoes. Mango juice is an unavoidable part of our daily meals during this season. Raw mangoes are dried and then ground into fine powder. It is then used in various food items. We make pickles, squash, ice cream, sweets, mango shake, etc. Mangoes contain Carotene which is an important constituent required by our body.

Every year a big international exhibition of mangoes is organized in our capital, Delhi. Hundreds of varieties of mangoes and the dishes made from them are exhibited here. One can also buy mangoes here. Competitions like who can eat a maximum number of mangoes are conducted during this exhibition. I wish to participate in this competition one day.
