Essay On My Country

The land of Rama and Krishna; the dream of Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi, India is my country. She is first and foremost in my thought. I love India, my motherland very much.

India, one of he oldest civilisations of the world, is the second most populous country in the world, after China. My country has produced great warriors like Rana Pratap and Shivaji; leaders like Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel and freedom fighters like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and Lala Lajpat Rai.

In the field of literature and science, my country has produced shining stars like Rabindra Nath Tagore, Sarat Chandra and C.V. Raman, Jagdish Chandra Bose and Dr. H.J. Bhabha. Such great names make me proud of my country.

My country is a land of villages and fields laden with crops. Our fields are fed by mighty rivers like the Ganges, the Yamuna, the Brahmaputra, Godavari, Narmada and Kaveri. The Gangetic valley is the most fertile part of our land.

The oceans that wash her feet on three sides and the mighty Himalayas that stand on the north have given my country the shape of a natural fort.

Ours is a secular State and in her lap breathe the followers of the various religions of the world. We have an unique culture which has developed through the centuries. We speak many languages, worship many gods and yet we have the same spirit of India running through all parts of our country binding us together. We create an example of great unity in diversity.

My country, because of many beautiful spots, is the craze of tourists. The Taj, Fatehpur Sikri, the Qutab Minar and the Red Fort are a few of the many wonders. Kashmir has been described as a paradise on earth. My country, the country of mountains, valley, rivers and lakes is a fit abode for the Gods.
