Essay On Police

Just as the soldiers protect our country from external enemies, the police protect us from internal anti-social elements. There are some anti-social groups or people in every country who refuse to follow the rules and are involved in erroneous activities. The police catch such people and present them in front of the law for punishment.

The Police department is divided into various sub-divisions, like the Central Police force, the Traffic Police, General Police, Armed Police Force, etc. Every state has its own police force. Tall, healthy, and well-educated people are recruited in the police force. A policeman wears a khaki uniform. The main office of the police is called as Police Commissionerate. It is situated at every district place. It controls the activities of all the sub-divisional police stations within that district.

A policeman’s job is not easy. They are given the responsibility to guard the leaders, take care of the traffic, protect national property at the time of agitation, social or political unrest, and guard our personal property against thieves and robbers. They have to fight against almost all the mishaps. They have to face many difficult situations without any excuses. To solve personal conflicts and to recover stolen items is also a part of their roles and responsibilities.

Police employees get good salaries. The Government provides them with all kinds of facilities so that they can concentrate on their duty. Separate police colonies are constructed for the staff. They are allowed to make use of government vehicles so that they can reach faster wherever necessary. Each police station is well equipped with telephones, wireless, and other advanced technology. They are allowed to make use of their weapons against criminals.

A policeman’s duty is specific and important as compared to other government servants. To maintain law and order in society, to protect the poor and weaker sections of society is their legal responsibility. The policemen who carry out some extraordinary mission or work are felicitated by the President. Many times people voluntarily honor them. I heartfully salute this public servant.
