My city is known as the City of Joy, the city of slums. But whatever people may say, I love my city, Kolkata (in the year 2000). I would rather be here than anywhere else in the country because with all her faults and failings, the people of Kolkata are loving, caring, unique. Kolkata was once the capital of India and there are many traces of her lost glory. The city also has much historical significance. The Victoria Memorial is the greatest landmark of the city. This huge white marble structure, an imitation 46902 57 m of the Taj Mahal at Agra, and St Paul’s Cathedral in London was built in memory of Queen Victoria.
The city is located at the mouth of the river Hooghly, a distributary of the river Ganga, which flows into the Bay of Bengal. From days of old, traders visited this city and it has now grown into a big business centre.
Kolkata boasts of people of all castes and creeds, traditions, cultures, languages, dress and foods. Once a city of milk and honey, people from all parts of the country flocked here to put down their roots.
Kolkata is a seat of learning, art, drama,festivals, dance and music.
Kolkata has great shopping centres and is noted for the best Haldon sarees in the co for the best handloom sarees in the country. It is SONEND one of the cheapest cities in India for sarees, clothes, shoes and leatherwear.

Delhi is my city. It is the capital of India. It is a big and beautiful city. It is situated on right sides of the Jamuna River.
All kinds of people live here. It has been divided into New Delhi and old Delhi. It is famous for so many things. The Jama Masjid, Gurudwara Sis Ganj and Birla Mandir are its important holy places! We have business centres like Chandni Chowk, Sardar Bazaar, Connaught Place and Jamal Khan Market.
The Vijay Ghat, Shanty Van and Rajghat are the most important places in Delhi. We find here Parliament House, Red Fort, Old Fort and the Qautab Minar. Many foreigners, when they come to Delhi, do visit these places. Traffic is very heavy. There are many tall buildings. There are schools, colleges, banks, offices, hotels, factories, markets, parks and gardens.
The city is expanding day by day. I love my city very much.
