Essay On A Recent Railway Journey
I undertook a railway journey recently with my father from Dehradun to Delhi. A railway journey is very troublesome and inconvenient for the middle class people. Now-a-days the Railways is doing her best to provide facilities to passengers.
We packed up our luggage and occupied a berth as there was no rush at the platform. The Dehradum Express started at 11 a.m. The journey through the mountains and long tunnels was of its own kind. I remained sitting beside the window looking out eagerly the various scenes and sights when the train was rushing on and the trees were whizzing by. The passengers in my compartment formed a medley crowd. Some were smoking, some were chatting or reading the newspaper while others talked over politics and the weather. I was all the while busy reading a book. I cast a glance outside and feasted my eyes on the landscape outside. A ticket examiner entered our compartment and checked our tickets. A passenger who was travelling without a ticket was taken to task.
After two hours, we arrived at Hardwar where the rush was huge. But we were not perturbed. The train steamed off after ten minutes. The journey upto Laksar junction was really very interesting as Nature was in her best mood. Then we reached Ghaziabad. After that the journey to Delhi was very fascinating. Ve crossed the Yamuna Bridge. The Red Fort was visible from a hort distance.
At last the train reached Delhi. The platform was full of noise, hustle and bustle. It was a very busy place. Everybody seemed to be in a hurry. Passengers ran hither and thither. The coolies moved to and fro with luggage on their heads and under their arms.
My uncle came there is receive us. We got down and came out of the station. My uncle took us in a car to his residence where we stayed for ten days and visited almost all the important places worth seeing.
