What surrounds us is our environment. It includes air, water, earth, flora and fauna, and of course every living thing on this earth. it is our environment that sustains and supports life. It is this environment that makes our earth the only known planet suitable for survival. Life is impossible on other planets because there is no life-supporting environment. The environment is a very complex and comprehensive phenomenon. All events taking place in our surroundings are a part of our environment.
His necessary to maintain a balance between the various elements of the environment to keep it healthy. Any imbalance caused by the addition of too much of undesirable substances in the air, water, or natural resources results in pollution. We will have to face serious consequences in the future if we do not maintain a balance in our environment. Every living thing on this earth has a right to survive. The environment is our ancestral property and it is our duty to protect it. A balanced environment protects life on our planet and provides energy for various activities. Our health and fate variably depend upon our natural environment.
But unfortunately, human beings are making every effort to ruin our beautiful environment. Instead of trying to adapt ourselves to the environment, we are trying to change it as per our needs. We are destroying our mother nature to fulfill our limitless desires. Forests are getting depleted due to urbanization, construction of darns, and industrialization. Land under cultivation is getting reduced day by day. Toxic chemicals and other wastes produced by industries are discharged either in the air or in the water.
The water in the rivers is getting severely contaminated. It is unfortunate that man is masterminding his own doom and destruction in the name of progress. The so-called boons and achievements of modern developments are turning into a big curse. Bio-diversity is in danger and many species of animals, birds, and plants have already become extinct and many are on the verge of extinction. The level of groundwater is going down and down.
Soil is also getting polluted and degraded. The changing environment is affecting our health. There is increasing evidence of heart attacks, diabetes, cancer, and other fatal diseases.
A number of solid wastes like plastic, ashes, sludge. useless bottles, cans, bags, etc are dumped which makes the environment dirty, stinky, and polluted.
This negligence is going to lead us to total destruction. We should try our level best to protect our environment at least now. People have slowly understood this and have become conscious of the alarming problem. Collective actions should be taken to protect our environment. We must consider every possible way to fight the danger.
