The recess period in schools is a great relief to the students as well as teachers. Freedom is the natural instinct of all human beings and hence the recess period is welcomed by all. The recess period generally comes after four periods of teaching. Both the students and the teachers await the recess period anxiously.

The students rush out of their class rooms. Some students whose homes are nearby go to their homes for a quick snack, some go to the school canteen and some play football or cricket. Shouts of joy of the students break the quiet atmosphere of the school. Students laugh and discuss issues and there is a lot of hustle and bustle everywhere.

Every student seems to be feeling hungry and wants to eat something. So the school canteen is full of activity. Some studious students who do not want to waste their time, are seen in the Reading Room of the library even in the recess period. The book-worms revise their lessons and the sports lovers try to learn new techniques in their favourite sports.

Recess period also gives an opportunity to the students to make friends with new boys and also discuss about the latest movies and popular serials on Cable T.V. They also discuss the restaurants and food of their choice. Actors and actresses of movies and serials are also the topics of general discussion during the recess period: The teachers enjoy the recess period too like students and they have their favourite topics of discussion. Some teachers relax and others are busy preparing notes or checking note books.

Then goes the call bell and the recess period comes to an end. All the students go back to their classrooms. The school compound which was bustling with activity is deserted again. Teachers also resume their work. The recess period provides energy to both the students and teachers for the remaining four periods.

Set 2: Essay On Recess Period

Recess period is a very important period in the school. It comes after four periods. After continuous studies for three hours, we get tired. Recess period is a welcome break. The children rush out from their classes as soon as the recess bell goes.

All the teachers and students refresh themselves in the recess period. The children buy eatables from hawkers, who visit in school during recess period. There is also a great rush at the school tuck-shop. Many of the students bring their packed refreshments. They sit on the lawns or under the trees to have their refreshment.

During recess period, school canteen is the busiest place. Some of them take tea, samosa and bread-pakora. Some of the students play games during the interval. Some sit in groups and enjoy gossiping. During winter, the lawns are full to their capacity. In summers, there is a great rush at the water-taps and the water-coolers.

I finish my refreshment and then rush to the readingroom. The students read newspapers and magazines. If I am late then it is difficult to get a seat.

For teachers, it is a time to relax. Again the bell rings and recess comes to an end. The students run to their class-rooms.
